RULES
1. The league
shall be governed by a Committee consisting of a Chairman, Secretary,
Treasurer. All to be elected at the A.G.M plus one representative from
each
team. Each team to have one vote with
the Chairman having the casting vote. (if necessary)
2. Admission
of new Teams to the league to be at the Invitation of the Committee.
The
entrance Fee to be £15..00 paid.
3. Each Game to
be played on a Monday evening , the Draw to be done at 8.15 and the
games to
start PROMPTLY at 8.30pm (or before)if teams persistently start late
this must
be addressed to the committee) and played in one room. Each League
match to
consist of 3 tables of 2 opposing pairs. Each table to play a rubber of
5 legs,
Captains to draw opposing players. The players will cut for box on each
leg,
the winner of the box dealing the cards. Each leg to be played twice
round, 121
holes
4. Two points
will be awarded to the team winning the most legs + ½ point for every
leg (i.e.
8 – 7 win winner receives 2 points + 4 – 6 collects 3 ½) Captains to be
responsible for the good conduct of the games, and any (COMPLAINTS MUST
BE IN
WRITING WITHIN 5 DAYS OF THE MATCH BEING PLAYED BY THE CAPTAIN NOT BY
INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS)
5. If a side unable to field a complete side of 6 players, it is possible to play with only 4 played on 2 tables with the 3rd table winning 5 - 0. However the card should be marked accordingly, and if the offending side persists for a period exceeding 3 weeks, the League will have the power to dismiss them from the League. Due care should be, given to the team providing the sandwiches and a game call off at short notice will incur a fee of £10.00.
6. It is the
winnings team’s responsibility for the result card being received by
the League
Secretary. A team can phone/email/text
their result through.(see details at top of page) this must be done by
Thursday
at the latest. The accumulated Result Cards can be sent at any time
during the
period of the League season, but the cards
MUST be
received. For each and any, card not received 1 point will be
deducted.
7. Any side
failing to produce a team for 2 consecutive matches may be dismissed
from the
League and all their matches declared void.
8. Teams, and
individuals, not members of the League are ineligible to compete for
any League
trophies.
9. In the
Captains. And individual, Knockout Cup games, the players will cut for
box on
each leg the loser of the box to peg 3 holes. Each player is dealt 5
cards,
each player to discard 2 cards into the box. If a Jack is turned up the
holder
of the box to peg 2 holes (unless the holder requires 5 holes, or less,
to
finish the leg) each leg to be once round the board 61 holes, Matches
to be the
best of 3 legs. The pair’s Cup is to be played over 3 legs, twice round
the
board, 121 holes.
9a. The Captain, or nominated Vice Captain
(who is
named at the start of the league season), is the only person allowed to
play in
the Captains competition.
9b The
Landlord/Landlady, or Manager/Bar
Steward(ess) for Clubs, is the only person able to
Play in
the Landlords Cup.
10. In the
Billy King Memorial Singles Knockout, teams consist of 6 players, each
player
to play
6 games
play in the Landlords Cup. Against the opposing team. Home team to
move, each
Game to
be played according to normal League Rules, Except 1 leg once round the
board.
If after
all the games have been played the match is a draw, then the playing
Captains
(or
Nominated, Captain for the evening), to play 1 game to decide
the
winner.
11. Anything
not dealt with within the rules must be referred to the Committee.
Whose
decision
Shall
be final.
12. When 2 teams
finish the league level on points the winner will be the one with the
most
Games won. If this is still a draw
then it will be the team with the most legs won that
Wins. If it is still a draw then the
League winner will be decided with a play-off between
The two teams. Should more than two
teams tie then a knock out competition will be played
and the committee will draw for who
plays whom i.e. if three teams tie the winner
of A v B will play C for the title.
13. ALL
CARDS
TO REMAIN FACEUP (IN ALL GAMES). UNTIL ALL POINTS HAVE
PEGGED
14. If
games
have been cancelled in first half of the year, then the game needs to
be
rearranged before the Christmas Break. If the game is cancelled in the
second
half of the year then this needs to be played before 31st
march. If
the team that cancels is unable to agree with the opposing team Captain
the
revised date for the match. Failure to
agree, then you will need to contact the Secretary liaise and failure
to get an
agreement, then the club cancelling the game will concede 8-0.
